Self produced, Julie composed all of the songs of pages with orchestral parts. She conducted the orchestra over 2 sessions in one day and later recorded her singing in her own studio, where the album was also mixed. Unlike on '13 songs' where Julie played lots of instruments, on 'pages', all of the music was played by the orchestra which included trumpets, french horns, trombone, vibraphone, clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon, violins, violas, cellos, double bass, glockenspiel, sticks and more. She spent a considerable amount of time working at the Artists' Retreat in Annaghmakerrig in County Monaghan working solely on all of the words for the work.

The multi-coloured house that features on Julie's art-work was painted when Julie kindly asked Sharon Costello Desmond to paint it in specific colours that Julie picked out. She definitely didn't want any black but rather a child-like hopefulness and fairytale playfulness. The cover features three different Rob Murphy photos of Julie dancing on the steps of the tree-house. All of the pages dress photos on the artwork were taken by Eoin Wright. All of the artwork was created and assembled by Julie in her own peculiar way.

Julie had a compelling feeling about her artwork after she had made pages. She wanted a dress made out of the pages of music that she had composed for the album. She asked Galway artist Sharon Costello Desmond if she would make it. Sharon kindly hand stitched and sculpted the dress on hand made paper using Julie's orchestral score. The orchestral music for every song from Julie’s pages album was used and pages dress is completely made of paper.

Because of the fact that paper doesn’t fall into shape like fabric, measurements were crucial in the design of the dress as was the geometric structure.

Sharon used a cross-stitch on the paper and used 250 yards of gold thread. Every seven inches of stitching would involve a process that took two to two and a half hours.

On the replica of the traditional corseted bodice, Sharon laced ribbon through metal circular eyelets which she had coated in a gold colour, the same gold the gold thread.

Each of the paper panels on the bodice required reinforcing 6-fold at the edges to avoid tearing and the panels on the skirt required reinforcing 4 fold with a variety of techniques. Aside from stitching there was an elaborate amount of ironing and measuring and a deliberate effort was made to use only paper in the whole dress.

The halterneck is attached separately and also features intricate stitching. A dress like this has never been done before and definitely not with a composer's score. Furthermore no composer has ever worn a self-composed score as a dress. Julie wears it from time to time!

An abridged version of her song 'You Broke The Magic' is a featured song on the RTE 1 TV drama 'Little White Lie' http://www.rte.ie/tv/littlewhitelie/score.html and 'You Bring Me Down' was featured on 'Match of the Day' on BBC 1 .

Her composition 'Sleeping' was performed by the Crash Ensemble at SHINDIG in Dublin. She scored the piece for viola, cello, alto flute, clarinet, trombone, vibraphone and percussion. The performance was broadcast on RTE Lyric FM. She performed a movement piece which was projected live on video to accompany the piece.

She conducted the string section of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in a concert with Moya Brennan in Liverpool in October. Julie orchestrated 9 songs especially for the performance.
